Ridgemond Training offers Apprenticeship opportunities in:

  • Bricklaying
  • Carpentry & Joinery
  • Painting & Decorating
  • Horticulture
There are 2 levels of Apprenticeships available:

Apprenticeship - this will take approximately 16 months. During that time, the apprentice will work towards an NVQ Level 2 that incorporates Key Skills and in most cases a technical certificate.

Advanced Apprenticeship - this will take a further 16 months to complete. During that time, the apprentice will work towards NVQ Level 3 and a technical certificate also incorporating Key Skills.

Key Skills can include communication, application of number, information technology, working with others, improving learning performance and problem solving.

(Free travel and payment for training available for those eligable for an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA).)

Why choose an Apprenticeship?

Allows you to learn, work, earn and get qualified all at the same time.

How long is the course?

Up to 16 months for the full Apprenticeship framework and a further 16 months for an Advanced Apprenticeship framework.

What qualifications will I gain?

Apprenticeship:

  • An Intermediate Construction Award
  • NVQ Level 2
  • Key Skills Certificate at Level 1
  • Health and safety test - to enable you to apply for a CSCS card
Advanced Apptenticeship:
  • An Advanced Construction Award
  • NVQ Level 3
  • Key Skills Certificate at Level 2
  • Health and safety test - to enable you to apply for a CSCS card
How will I know how well I am doing?

You will be required to gather evidence from your work activities to demonstrate that you have become competent in a range of skills. An assessor will also observe you in the workplace.

Can I start an Apprenticeship before gaining a work placement?

Yes, if you are not employed we can offer training at our centres in Stevenage or Luton for you to learn the underpinning practical knowledge and provide you with support to find a suitable work placement so that you can get the work experience required.
